$1 million Powerball ticket sold in Tampa; the jackpot is now $1 billion

TAMPA, Florida (FloridaToday.news) — For the third time in Powerball history, the jackpot has hit the $1 billion mark.

Monday night’s draw did not reveal a big prize winner, pushing the estimated jackpot to $1 billion for an estimated cash value of $516.8 million. The winning numbers were 5, 8, 9, 17, 41 and the red Powerball 21.

This is the third largest Powerball prize in the history of the game and the seventh largest jackpot in US lottery history.

The top 10 Powerball jackpots are as follows:

  • $1.586 billion – January 13, 2016 – California, Florida, Tennessee.
  • $1 billion (estimate) – July 19, 2023
  • $768.4 million – March 27, 2019 – Wisconsin

  • $754.6 million – February 6, 2023 – Washington

  • $632.6 million – January 5, 2022 – California, Wisconsin
  • Even though there was no jackpot winner, many other winners have been found throughout the country.

    Five ticket holders from Connecticut, Florida, Kentucky, New York and Pennsylvania won a $1 million prize. According to the Florida Lottery, the Florida winner purchased the ticket at the Food Mart at 5247 South MacDill Avenue in Tampa.

    Three more ticket holders who matched five winning numbers turned on the Power Play option, increasing their prize to $2 million.

    The next PowerBall will take place on Wednesday at 22:59. The chance of someone winning the jackpot is 1 in 292.2 million.
