A 17-year-old boy is wounded and taken to hospital after a shootout in the Fort Lauderdale area.
FORT LAUDERDALE, Florida. (FloridaToday.news) — An alleged 17-year-old boy was shot dead and rushed to hospital after gunfire broke out at a Fort Lauderdale apartment complex.
The Fort Lauderdale Police Department received a call and alert just before 8 p.m. Tuesday about gunshots at the Everglades Heights apartment on 22nd Street NW.
“A lot of bullets were fired, it sounded like multiple shots,” said resident Brittany Perkins.
Police are investigating several sections of the complex that were also hit by bullets, such as neighbors’ cars.
“They shot at my car, nine millimeters went through my window, and the car next to me had two bullet holes in the windows, and a couple of other cars had a couple of bullet holes in the doors,” said Thomas Perkins, another resident. complex. “This is not the first shooting in the area, and frankly, I’m tired of just living here, period.”
FLPD officers and the Crime Scene Investigation Unit have responded and are inspecting the scene.
The victim was reportedly taken to Broward Health by the Fort Lauderdale Fire Department as an injury alert; details about his condition were not released.
They have also not yet commented on whether the suspect is in custody.
