Altamonte Springs launches passenger service on board autonomous vehicles

The city of Altamonte Springs, along with the Florida Department of Transportation, is now welcoming passengers to CraneRIDES, a new autonomous vehicle (AV) shuttle. project.

Starting Monday, residents and guests can board for free and experience a new way to wander around Altamonte Springs.

In collaboration with Beep Inc. the city will launch these specialized shuttles, which are programmed to travel on a fixed route through uptown Altamonte, stopping at four different locations in the city: Altamonte Mall, Renaissance Center, Cranes Roost Park and AMC Theatres. Over the next 36 months, it is planned to expand the system to include the AdventHealth campus in Altamont, the SunRail station in Altamonte Springs, and the future home of CenterPointe.

During this initial phase, guests will be able to experience this skiing experience during the following opening hours:

  • Sunday – Thursday | from 10:00 to 14:00 and from 17:00 to 21:00
  • Friday and Saturday | from 10:00 to 14:00 and from 17:00 to 22:00
