Fort Lauderdale resident says DoorDash delivery driver stole package from her community mailbox

FORT LAUDERDALE, Florida. (TodayNews) – A Fort Lauderdale resident is on a mission to find a dastardly thief who stole a package from her community mailbox. The victim, a flight attendant, claims that the DoorDash courier was the culprit.

The incident took place on Friday evening at the Harwick House residential complex in Fort Lauderdale Beach.

The owner of the stolen package, who identified herself as Zita, spoke to 7News on Wednesday.

“I received a notification from FedEx that my package had been delivered,” she said. “I went down for the package; The package was no more.

CCTV footage shows the suspect casually tossing a package on neighbor Zita’s doorstep before casually strolling to the mailbox. Without missing a second, the thief, who was named Orlando on the food delivery app, grabbed the package and quickly fled.

The victim, who is furious at the theft, told 7News that the stolen item was a flight attendant’s uniform worth about $200.

“Everyone works hard for what they get, so it was very frustrating,” said Zita. “If he doesn’t want to dress like a flight attendant, I don’t know.”

Taking matters into her own hands, she wasted no time reporting the incident to the Fort Lauderdale police and contacting DoorDash directly.

In a statement released by DoorDash, a spokesperson wrote: “We have zero tolerance for any theft on our platform – Dasher has been deactivated and we have contacted the customer directly.”

“You wouldn’t like it if someone just took your stuff and stole it,” Zita said.

Fort Lauderdale Police are urging anyone with information about the theft or the identity of the thief to step forward and lend a hand to their ongoing investigation.

As for Zita, she was left without a work uniform and with a message for the thief.

“Just do the right thing,” she said.

Zita tells 7News that all she wants is her package back. However, if she fails to do so and is able to identify the thief, she will demand that the state’s attorney’s office file charges.
