JSO: A man is fatally shot in a possible drive-by shooting on Golfare Boulevard.

JACKSONVILLE, Florida. The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office said one person died as a result of gunfire from a possible drive-by shooting on Golfare Boulevard. Saturday afternoon.

According to the JSO, officers responded to the report of the murder at around 12:15 p.m. in the 1400 block of Golfare Boulevard. The incident was initially brought to their attention by both the activation of the ShotSpotter system and numerous 911 calls reporting shots in the area.

Upon their arrival, authorities found the lifeless body of an unidentified man between the ages of 20 and 30. The victim received multiple gunshot wounds and died at the scene.

JSO officers immediately began a thorough search of the area, looking for potential witnesses and security footage to assist in their investigation.

Eyewitness accounts provided some leads, as several people reported seeing a white or light-colored sedan hurriedly leaving the area shortly after the sound of gunshots echoed through the neighborhood. Notably, none of the 911 calls recorded any visual information about the incident itself, recording only the sounds of gunshots.

The ShotSpotter system, designed to detect and accurately determine the location of the shooting, recorded three shots. This information, combined with the lack of any specific details about the suspect, led investigators to consider the possibility of a drive-by shooting.

During the preliminary examination of the crime scene, several shell casings were found, which are important material evidence for the ongoing investigation.

Anyone with information related to the incident is strongly advised to contact the Sheriff’s Office at 904-630-0500, go online at [email protected], or call the Crime Stoppers hotline at 866-845-TIPS.
