JSO says victims caught in crossfire from drive-by
JACKSONVILLE, Florida — The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office is investigating a shooting that took place Monday morning at 2:30 a.m. on New Kings Road.
JSO patrol officers were nearby and stated in an incident report that they heard between 12 and 18 shots fired.
A witness who was trying to run away from the gunshots was stopped by the JSO and told officers that they saw a black Charger firing at people who were standing in the Metro PCS parking lot.

At the same time, JSO received a call from two people who were sitting in their car when it was shot several times by the man operating the black charger.
The JSO states that after officers collected several shell casings and other evidence at the scene, it was revealed that the two victims were caught in a crossfire between two other people attempting to shoot each other.
The victims, who are currently unidentified, were to be examined by the JFRD at the scene. The woman was injured and had to pull several pieces of glass from her back. Luckily, she didn’t have to be taken to the hospital.

The victim told JSO that she felt the car get caught in the crossfire and yelled at the driver to get off. She was then able to open her door and crawl to the ground next to the car before hiding behind nearby buildings.
The JSO states that the suspects are currently unknown.
