Loved ones seek answers after local mom found dead in Northside smokehouse

JACKSONVILLE, Florida. Loved ones mourn the tragic loss of Jennifer Horizat, a 38-year-old mother of six, who was found dead in a smokehouse on Norwood Avenue earlier this month.

Police are investigating the case as a homicide, but there is no information on a possible suspect or cause of death at this time. Her family says they just want justice and the answers they deserve.

Described by family and friends as someone with a heart of gold and an infectious laugh, Jennifer was a beloved member of the community.

“She was very funny, her laughter carried around the room. She loved everyone and just wanted to be accepted by everyone. She was a good mother,” recalled one close friend.

Jennifer’s sister, Belinda Hall, is devastated by the loss. “I was speechless, I just crumbled,” she said.

Investigators found drugs at the scene, police said, but it is unclear what the drugs were or whether they played any role in her death.

The family is struggling to come to terms with the tragic incident and is desperately looking for answers and justice.

“We don’t know anything, we have no idea. That’s why we just want answers. We want as many people as possible to come forward, give us peace and do justice to Jennifer. Peace in our hearts… that her kids can actually go to bed at night and not worry about anything happening to them,” said Belinda Hall.

During this difficult time, the family is trying to stay strong by holding on to the memories of Jennifer’s laugh and smile.

“Her laugh and smile, just a heart of gold. She always found something good in someone, you knew when Jennifer was around, ”a close friend recalled fondly.

As the family prepares to serve Jennifer in the near future, they are urging anyone with information related to the incident to report it to the police.
