Man charged with threatening to shoot girlfriend in Miami
MIAMI Authorities arrested a man Tuesday after he said he threatened to shoot his girlfriend and another woman at her Miami home last December.
According to the Miami Police’s arrest report, the officers were sent to the house after a domestic incident call was received shortly before midnight on December 27, 2022, near the 1900 block of the Northwest Fourth Court, south of Wynwood Gardens.
Authorities said they spoke to a woman upon arrival who said she ignored numerous phone calls and text messages from her boyfriend, whom police identified as Daymond Jamal Swain Jr., 23, causing him to visit her home.
According to police, when Swain arrived at the victim’s home, he started knocking on the door as she came out to talk to him.
According to the arrest report, after the victim went outside, Swain became aggressive, grabbed her by the jacket she was wearing and began to push her.
Moments later, Swain walked up to his car and grabbed a black firearm before returning to the victim and pointing it at her, police said.
When the victim started screaming for help, calling the name of another woman in the house, the woman went outside and asked Swain, “What’s going on?” to which he replied, “I’ll shoot you too,” according to the report.
Police said Swain fled in an unknown direction after an incident in which a woman called the police from her cell phone.
According to investigators, both victims identified Swain from the same photo.
A police report says Swain was located and arrested shortly before 3:00 p.m. Tuesday near the 400 block of NW Second Avenue in Miami.
Detectives said he was taken to the Turner Guildford Knight Correctional Center where his bail was set at $16,500.
According to prison records, Swain faces two separate counts of aggravated assault with a firearm and battery charge.
