Miami mother tried to hire hitman on parody website to kill 3-year-old son: police
The Miami mother filed charges after police said she went to a parody website to ask a hitman to kill her young son.
According to the arrest documents, 18-year-old Jazmine Paez went to rentahitman.com and asked a hitman to kill her 3-year-old daughter by the end of the week.
Website owner Robert Ines told NBC6 that he receives hundreds of such offers a day. However, this request was very specific. Paez allegedly sent photographs of the boy and the exact location of the child.
Iness said the website was once intended for a cybersecurity company, but has received occasional requests for services over the years. In April, an Air National Guardsman was arrested for allegedly using a website to apply to be a hitman.
According to Ines, many of the requests come from people looking for fake services, but Paez’s request looked too real.
“The ability to research names and addresses and verify the intended target lived at a particular address. For me, this is a red flag. If this information is confirmed, for me this is something to look out for, and that is why I referred to it, ”said Iness.
Iness called the Miami-Dade Police Department, but he said the officers did not believe the complaint.
“They weren’t interested. They sent me an email saying that if I contacted again they were going to send a cease and desist letter. Therefore, I don’t know what their motives are, but I got the impression that they were not interested in preventing any serious crimes,” Iness added.
Paez was arrested Tuesday on charges of incitement to murder and illegal use of a communications device. She was given a $15,000 bail and ordered to stay away from the child.
Family members told NBC6 that the baby is safe and with relatives. According to the records, the Florida Department of Children and Families was notified of this.
