MPs: Florida mother tried to steal her baby from ICU, stabbed three hospital staff

PALM BEACH COUNTY, Florida. – A woman was arrested Thursday night after the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office said she stabbed three hospital employees after trying to retrieve her baby from the neonatal intensive care unit at HCA Florida Palms West Hospital.

Hospital staff found 31-year-old Kendra Green entered the intensive care unit and removed her three-day-old baby from a ventilator, MPs said.

Authorities said that as Greene was trying to leave the hospital with the baby, several hospital staff tried to intervene when she pulled out a knife and wounded three staff members.

Investigators said Green left the baby with a family member and went into hiding before deputies arrived.

The infant was flown back to Palms West by the Palm Beach County Fire and Rescue Department, who said her condition was stable, according to the PBCSO.

All three employees received medical treatment for non-life-threatening injuries and were discharged the same evening, authorities said.

According to prison records, Greene was sent to the Palm Beach County Jail around 4:30 a.m. Friday and faces multiple charges, including two counts of aggravated battery with a deadly weapon and one count of child abuse. children under aggravated circumstances, beating and resisting a police officer without violence.
