New streak of heat with the same downpours, storms

JACKSONVILLE, Florida. – Warm night, showers and storms are weakening. Showers will continue until 22:00 today. Sweep. Wash off and repeat on Friday as storms bring frequent lightning, gusty winds and localized heavy rainfall, and above-season temperatures.

A new wave of heat has begun today, which will last until the weekend. The expected heat index temperatures are around 104-108 degrees. Scattered showers with thunderstorms possible daily, although coverage will be limited to areas near Highway 301-I-95 and beaches due to westerly and southwesterly winds.

Friday: Intermittent showers and scattered storms developing near and along Highway 301 to I-95 and beaches, 30-50 percent southeast Georgia, 50-70 percent northeast Florida. Morning lows 70 to 80. Mid-90s high. It feels like the temperature is about 104-108 degrees. Wind SW/SE 5-10 m/s.
