Police have arrested 4 teenagers accused of shooting at detectives during a traffic stop in North Miami.
NORTH MIAMI, Florida. (FloridaToday.news) — Authorities said four men were arrested after shooting at detectives during a traffic stop in North Miami.
Investigators believe the incident occurred when a Hyundai sedan ignored a red traffic light at the intersection of Northeast 150th Street and Sixth Avenue shortly before 11:40 p.m. Tuesday.
Officers from the Miami-Dade Police Department’s Robbery Investigation Unit noticed the vehicle’s violation and immediately activated their emergency equipment, intending to stop the vehicle. However, when the suspects tried to escape, one of the passengers sitting in the front passenger seat extended his arm out of the window and fired several shots at law enforcement officers.
Last night, RID employees were shot at while trying to stop traffic. Fortunately, the officers were not injured, and the four cowards are currently in custody. These attacks happen all too often. Let me be clear, violence against my officers is unacceptable. pic.twitter.com/o7sldAadMv

A subsequent chase ensued, eventually ending when a Hyundai sedan pulled up near Northeast 123rd Street and 13th Avenue.
At this point, the four suspects abandoned the vehicle and fled the scene on foot. In response, the authorities quickly established a perimeter, enlisting the support of MDPD aircraft and K-9 units to assist in the search operation.
Ultimately, all four were taken into custody without any further incident.
Detectives identified the suspects as 16-year-old Jurode Jean-Claude, 17-year-old Michael Alysma, 17-year-old Xavier Kerin and 19-year-old José Pérez.
“Every day, the men and women in law enforcement here in Miami-Dade County risk their lives and face danger and make decisions right away, and they act, they get hurt, they get shot,” the MDPD said. Directed by Alfredo Ramirez.
During the operation, law enforcement officers seized firearms at the scene. Fortunately, none of the officers were injured during the clash.
“We are very lucky that they are all right, but these four subjects are in custody and will not harm our community,” Ramirez said.
The investigation is ongoing and authorities are working hard to uncover more details related to the incident.
A criminal case has been initiated against four suspects.
