Powerball jackpot rises to $900 million on Monday draw
MIAMI – Many people dream of becoming multi-millionaires overnight as the Powerball jackpot rose to $900 million on a Monday night draw.
This is the third largest prize in the history of the game. Its cash value is $465.1 million.
“I’ll see if I’m lucky here, I’ll get into that big one,” said Jorge Alfonso, waiting to buy a ticket.
“I have won before, so if I won this, I would leave the county, I would disappear,” said Stephanie Wright.
She won two big jackpots but doesn’t want to reveal how many.
But she already knows what she would do if it became a threesome.
“I would take care of my children and family. I would probably donate a lot to my church and other organizations that I believe in,” she said.
While you have a very small chance of winning, Jorge Alfonso of the Florida Lottery points out that it is possible.
“There have been 373 million dollar or more Powerball winners in Florida, including 16 jackpot winners. So we hope to bring home the 17th Florida Powerball jackpot winner tonight,” Alfonso said.
If no one picks the right numbers, this jackpot will get much bigger.
“If no one wins today, we could see the amount exceed a billion dollars,” Alfonso said.
The last time the jackpot was won was in April. Since then, there have been 37 consecutive draws without a jackpot winner.
While the overall odds of winning any number of Powerball prizes are 1 in 24.9, the odds of winning the Powerball jackpot are 1 in 292.2 million, according to the organization.
Tickets cost $2 and draws take place every Monday, Wednesday and Saturday.
If you want to increase your chances of becoming a multimillionaire instantly, you can always play the Mega Millions game.
The next draw will take place on Tuesday and the estimated jackpot will be $640.
Mega Millions draws take place on Tuesdays and Fridays, tickets cost $2.
The odds of winning the jackpot are approximately 1 in 303 million.
