Prosecutors detail evidence against woman accused of killing Okala’s mom after internecine feud
OCALA, Florida. – Interviews with neighbors, video from body-worn cameras and Susan Lorintz’s own statements are part of the case the state is building against the woman accused of shooting and killing Adjika Owens last month in Marion County.
Prosecutors charged Lorintz, 58, with manslaughter, saying she shot Owens through a locked metal door on June 2 when Owens demanded Lorintz speak to her following a conflict between the suspect and the victim’s children.
News 6 received a list of documents from the Marion County State Attorney, whose office will handle the case against Lorinz.
The document contains a list of potential witnesses, including representatives of the sheriff’s office, a medical examiner, and several people living near Lorinz’s former home.

It also includes a list of audio and video files called “Evidence”. It includes video from the deputy’s body camera, emergency call logs, audio files from interviews taken during a survey of the area where the shooting took place, a search warrant for an iPhone, and video of a doorbell from a neighbor.
Finally, it includes Lorinz’s statements from interviews conducted after Owens was shot.
Lorinz’s complaints about the children in the neighborhood are well documented at the Marion County Sheriff’s Office. During the year, she called several times, accusing the children of invading her territory. The sheriff’s office said they would also find out that the children were playing in the common area next to her house. The deputies also noted, and, according to Lorints, admitted to using racial slurs and other insults against children, filming them and showing them the middle finger.
Lorintz also tried to press charges against Owens in a February 2022 incident in which Lorintz said that Owens threw a metal “no entry” sign at her and hit her in the leg. Owens said she threw the sign, not at Lorinz. Calls to MPs also reveal that Lorinz accused Owens of spoofing her mail.
Lorintz told MPs she bought the gun that was fired a year ago to defend herself after the Owens incident. However, in a subsequent interview with MPs after the shooting, Lorintz said that although she and Owens were not friendly, Owens never threatened her with violence.
On the night of the shooting, Lorintz stated that Owens knocked on her door and threatened to kill her, which is why she shot Owens. Witnesses said they never heard Owens say anything like that.
This comes after Lorintz pleaded not guilty to Owens’ murder last week.
