South Florida mother to stand trial after trying to hire hitman to kill her own son
MIAMI (FloridaToday.news). An 18-year-old mother from South Florida was detained by authorities on charges of trying to hire a hitman to kill her three-year-old son.
The arrest came after she allegedly visited HireAHitman.com before meeting with an undercover cop.
On Wednesday, Jazmine Paez appeared before a judge in Miami, where the courtroom was stunned by the troubling allegations leveled against her. Even the presiding judge seemed stunned.
“She is 18 years old. She went to the site to hire a hitman,” the judge said after reading the police report. It was then revealed that Paez had muttered something to the referee when the referee asked, “What?”
The lawyer replied: “To kill your own child.” The judge then responded to inform them that she had not read to the end of the report.
The judge then asked the mother if she had ever received treatment for a mental illness, to which Paez replied in the negative.
Paez was charged with incitement to murder and illegal use of a telephone. Despite posting a $15,000 bail, she was ordered to stay away from her son, who is now in the care of his grandmother.
At this point, the motive behind Páez’s alleged intentions remains unclear.
