Surveillance video captured how a brazen thief smashed the window of a Verizon store in southwest Miami-Dade.
MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Florida. – Local News 10 received CCTV footage showing one of two brazen thieves throwing a large rock through a Verizon store window and smashing it in southwest Miami-Dade early Wednesday morning.
The incident was reported around 2:30 a.m. at a Verizon store located in the 9900 block of Southwest 40th Street, inside Jack’s mall.
Video footage shows the thief getting out of a white car parked in front of the store with a large rock and then throwing it into the store’s main entrance.
According to Detective Angel Rodriguez, who is also a spokesman for the Miami-Dade Police Department, the wireless store was broken into around 2:30 a.m. and an alarm went off in the store.
Rodriguez said security called 911 and the thieves fled before police arrived.
Authorities said the thieves smashed the store’s window and stole at least one mobile phone and equipment from the store.
The police did not provide any further information about the burglary or thieves involved in the incident.
Detectives said the Miami-Dade Police Chief Investigation Department was investigating.
