HENRY COUNTY, GA – Man accused of murder of four people in the Henry County area on Saturday was killed.

Henry County Sheriff Reginald Scandrett confirmed to Channel 2 correspondent Mark Wynn that Andre Longmore, 40, was killed in a shootout with deputies and police on Sunday afternoon.

Henry County Assemblyman and two Clayton County police officers were injured during the incident. The MP, who Scandrett said was shot in the back, was taken by Life Flight to Grady Memorial Hospital.

One of the police officers was taken to Grady by ambulance, the other was treated on the spot.

Police were looking for Longmore after he allegedly opened fire on residents in the Dogwood Lakes area of ​​the Hamptons, killing three men and a woman on Saturday.

During a Sunday afternoon press conference, Hampton Police Chief James Turner identified four victims: Scott Leavitt, 67; Shirley Leavitt, 66; Steve Blizzard, 65; and Ronald Jeffers, 66.

“The monster is dead,” Scandret said during a press conference. “The citizens of Hampton, Henry County, the Atlanta metro area, and the entire state of Georgia can breathe a little easier today. The suspect is not on the street.”

Clayton County Police said they responded to an apartment building on Wagon Wheel Court in Jonesboro after a Henry County MP contacted the vehicle in which Longmore was last seen.

Police and deputies said they contacted Longmore at one of the apartments and he started shooting at them. “We started the chase, attacked the suspect again, he pulled out his gun again, there was a shootout and the suspect was neutralized,” Scandrett said.
