The video shows a man stealing two guitars worth $2,000 each from a Fort Lauderdale music store.
FORT LAUDERDALE, Florida. (FloridaToday.news) — A Fort Lauderdale record store owner hopes clear CCTV footage will help police catch a man who grabbed two expensive guitars and fled during business hours.
Ken Katz, owner of Music Arts Enterprises, told 7News on Saturday about the theft.
“Frankly, brazenly just ran forward,” he said.
Surveillance video captured the subject picking up the guitars moments after entering the store along the 3300 block of Davy Boulevard around 5:00 pm Monday.
Katz said the thief stole two of his most prized tools.
“He entered this room first, looked at the price tags and started robbing on price,” he said.
Price tag: about $2,000 each.
“And the people we deal with are just the best people,” Katz said. “I hate to see something like this happen and ruin the mood for the people who work here.”
After the thief escaped, Katz said he jumped into a dark-colored sedan with tinted windows.
The store owner said he had no choice but to lock up the expensive guitars and wait for justice to be served.
“[This] the person must be held accountable. We need to get our guitars back and be able to move on,” Katz said.
If you have any information about this theft or the subject’s whereabouts, please call Broward County Crime Squad at 954-493-TIPS. Remember that you can always remain anonymous and may be eligible for a reward of up to $5,000.
