UCF is upgrading the FBC Mortgage stadium with a new state-of-the-art lighting system and antenna units to improve communications and Wi-Fi throughout the 45,000-seat venue.
The move comes as the Knights begin their first season in the Big 12 Conference.
The new system will enhance the gaming and TV experience and allow UCF to use a dynamic scene management system that will allow for the use of color and twinkling lights. The number of lighting fixtures will increase by almost 50%, some of them will be added to the exterior of the stadium.
“Our fans will see an enhanced in-stadium experience, and our broadcasts on ESPN and Fox will be championship-level with LED add-ons,” said UCF Director of Athletics Terry Mohajir.
UCF has also begun placing arrays of MatSing lens antennas around the stadium to help distribute cellular signals. The antenna provides better service in high density environments such as stadiums and arenas and has been used at AT&T Stadium (Texas), Allegiant Stadium (Las Vegas), Raymond James Stadium (Tampa) and Hard Rock Stadium (Miami).
Each capsule will provide better stadium coverage and boost your Wi-Fi signal.
The upgrade is expected to be completed by the end of July.
The UCF kicks off the football season by hosting Kent State on August 31, starting at 7:00 pm on FS1.
