UCF student returns home after shark attack in Volusia County
VOLUSIA COUNTY, Florida. – A UCF student returned home from the hospital after being bitten by a shark.
Chris Pospisil said he was surfing with his friend Rhys Radish when he was attacked by a shark.
“Suddenly, the shark flew out from under me. I was sitting on my board and she came up and started tearing me back,” Pospilsil said.
Surveillance video shows Redish swimming towards Pospilsil while his foot is still in the shark’s mouth.

“I hear splashes, I look around, Chris is underwater. He jumps out screaming, “I’ve been bitten!” Radish said.
Back on shore, they said Volusia County rescuers quickly stopped the bleeding.
“I remember asking the lifeguard, ‘Am I going to lose my leg?’ He’s like, “I don’t know, dude,” Pospilsil said.
At the hospital, he underwent surgery on his foot and hopes to make a full recovery in six to eight months.
He also said that he already misses water surfing.
“I will have nerve damage in my leg because the shark has torn out all the nerves in my leg. It is not as harmful as the sole of my foot, but the sole of my foot will fully recover,” Pospilsil said.
The family organized a fundraiser here to pay for out-of-network medical services.
