Update: MPs discover missing children from Flagler County, one in custody

The children were found safe west of Jacksonville by the Florida Highway Patrol and the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office.

FLAGLER COUNTY, Florida. According to law enforcement, two children were rescued after a report of a kidnapping that swept the county line.

On July 14 at 2:06 p.m., Flagler County sheriff’s deputies responded to an apartment building in the Z-section of Palm Coast in response to a child abduction report.

Deputies immediately began searching the area for the suspect’s car as the FCSO Criminal Police Center alerted nearby agencies in real time to the description of the car and the situation.

The FCSO’s Serious Case Investigation Unit immediately began working with the Florida Department of Law Enforcement to issue an Amber Alert for juveniles, a 3-year-old girl and a 4-year-old boy.

Through investigative means, assisted by the St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office, the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office, and the Florida Highway Patrol, the suspect’s vehicle was quickly located at 1-10 West near MM346 FHP and JSO.

FHP and JSO stopped the suspicious vehicle at around 3:42 pm. The children have been rescued and are safe, and biological father Derek Jordan has been arrested.
