Video shows 2 boat thefts from Miami-Dade NE business; the owner asks to return it, “no questions asked”

NORTH EAST MIAMI-DADE, FL. (FloridaToday.news) — A business owner in South Florida is feeling out of his element after two thieves were caught on CCTV stealing a boat, and now he’s asking for the boat back “no questions asked.”

Jonathan Gomez told 7News on Thursday about an overnight theft at his northeast Miami-Dade office.

“He was parked here with his rear wheels tied to this pole,” Gomez said.

The theft occurred on Saturday, shortly before one in the morning, at 19400 West Dixie Highway.

“Friday, she was there when I left work. Unfortunately, I had to leave to work in Port St. Lucie,” said Gomez. “Came back Sunday night to move it to my friend’s house and noticed it was gone.”

The video shows two scammers driving up to where a 14-foot boat was parked. Moments later, they are seen connecting the vessel to the SUV.

Gomez said the boat was locked up, but the duo still managed to get away with it.

“It doesn’t make me feel good,” Gomez said. “I worked really hard on the boat and it paid off.”

Gomez turned to 7News for help.

“They can run, but they cannot hide,” he said. “They forgot the camera is right upstairs.”

Gomez hopes the pictures of the thieves will get his boat back.

“Not a value, it’s just a type of boat,” he said. “It’s a Boston whaling ship, man. Unsinkable, hard to find.

Despite filing a police report, Gomez said he would look the other way if the boat was simply returned.

“They can bring the boat back here, no questions asked, anywhere. I will not press charges,” he said.
