‘You feel so insulted’: NW Miami-Dade landlord speaks out after thief steals family WaveRunner
NORTHWEST MIAMI-DADE, FL. (FloridaToday.news) – A South Florida homeowner said she was robbed of her sense of security by a thief who broke into her home in broad daylight and drove away on her family’s personal jet ski.
Security camera video captured the gunman entering Lucia Garcia’s home in northwest Miami-Dade on Friday morning.
“[It happened at] 9:27, 9:28 am,” she said.
The masked subject had the audacity to break the lock on the fence around Garcia’s house.
“With a chain, a lock that you need to put a number on,” she said. “You know, you feel so humiliated in your house, ugh, yeah.”
The thief took what Garcia was using for family water activities: their WaveRunner.
“My daughter, little one, she likes it, actually. She loves him more than the big one,” she said.
CCTV footage shows the thief wheeling a 2019 Yamaha out into the street.
Garcia believe he left with him in a white pickup truck.
“I couldn’t even sleep, to be honest. I toss and turn and every time I open my eyes I find it hard to get back to sleep,” Garcia said.
Because the blue hull of the WaveRunner with yellow stripes is more than just fun on the water. The homeowner said it was the perfect match with their boat, little Robin’s roving jogger.
“Lilo and Stitch. We called [the WaveRunner] Stitch, Garcia said.
Now the Garcias want their WaveRunner back.
“I hope so. If they can get him back, that would be amazing,” Garcia said.
The Garcia family hauls their Lilo boat out of the yard and puts it in storage. More than anything, they just want someone to look after their yellow and blue striped Yamaha GP1800 so they can keep creating unforgettable memories on the water.
